Abstract (EN)

As a foreign language, listening skills should take precedence in Turkish language instruction. In this regard, the use of authentic materials is crucial for capturing the interest of language learners, as listening skills need to be oriented towards real life and real situations. Although there have been numerous studies in other countries on the use of authentic materials based on the development of listening skills, research specifically addressing the use of authentic materials in Turkey is quite limited. In this context, the aim of the research is to examine the usability of audio and audio-visual authentic documents such as authentic videos, films, music clips, interviews, TV programs, etc., as instructional materials for listening skills in the process of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. This study is a qualitative research that reveals how authentic materials can be utilized in the acquisition of listening skills in the context of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Additionally, within the study, the listening skill scale and achievements outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (2020) were examined, and activities were designed based on these scales and achievements to guide the use of audio and audio-visual authentic materials. It is anticipated that the activities developed in the study will serve as a guide for educators.
