An examination of individuals who get senile's salary in respect to certain personal characteristics

ABSTRACT An examination of individuals who get senile's salary in respect to certain personal characteristics. This research was carried out by quantitative research method and by examining the life satisfaction, self esteem and perceived social support levels of the elderly under the law no 2022, socio-demographic characteristics and self-esteem that perceived the difference in the characteristics of these three persons and aimed to determine the effect of perceived social support on life satisfaction. The study was carried out with the data obtained between the dates of 01.01.2017 - 01.04.2017 for 126 elderly individuals who have received old-age pension from the Directorate of Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation of Bolu province, Seben District. Personal information form, life satisfaction scale, rosenberg self-esteem scale and multidimensional perceived social support scale were used to collect the data. The data of the study were collected through face-to-face interviews with 126 elderly individuals aged at least 65 years old and continuing to receive an old-age pension, aiming to reach a maximum of 150 individuals by a complete census sampling.The obtained data were evaluated by SPSS 22.0 package program in computer environment using number, percent, frequency, t-Test, Oneway ANOVA, Pearson Correlation test and multiple linear regression analysis. According to research findings; elderly people are affected by life satisfaction, self-esteem and social support they perceive; It was also found that life satisfaction, self-esteem and perceived social support differed significantly according to some socio-demographic characteristics. The study is important in terms of examining the life satisfaction, self esteem and perceived social support levels of the elderly. While policies and programs for elderly people are being developed, it is proposed to develop elderly service centers, elderly home care and support services for nursing homes and nursing homes, as well as quality aging programs for regions with socio-cultural infrastructure in the manner of the study.
