The effect of furniture choices of re-Tunctioned historical buildings on the interior space - The example of Hişvahan and Şirehan

He studies the effects of furniture choices on the interior space in the process of re-functioning of historical buildings. The research deals with Hışvahan and Şirehan, two important historical inns located in Gaziantep that have been re-functioned at different periods. The harmony of the furniture choices made during the re-functioning of these structures with the historical texture, the effects on the aesthetics and functionality of the space have been studied in detail The preservation and re-functioning of historical structures are of great importance for the sustainability of cultural heritage. The furniture choices made during the re-functioning process are one of the critical elements that determine the atmosphere of the interior. Hışvahan and Şirehan are two important buildings that reflect the historical texture of Gaziantep and have been re-functioned. In the process of re-functioning of these structures, the correct furniture choices ensure the preservation of the historical texture and meet the needs of modern use. The research used a qualitative research method to evaluate the effects of furniture choices in Hışvahan and Şirehan on the interior space. In this context, the furniture used in both buildings has been analyzed in terms of compliance with the historical texture, aesthetics and functionality. This study, supported by observations, user opinions and literature review, evaluates the contributions of furniture choices made during the process of re-functioning of structures to the indoor atmosphere. The research findings show that the furniture used in Hışvahan and Şirehan was selected in accordance with the historical texture and that this harmony makes positive contributions to the indoor atmosphere. The authentic furniture used in Hışvahan emphasizes the historical identity of the building, while at the same time offering a historical atmosphere to the visitors. At Shirehan, on the other hand, modern furniture brings comfort and functionality to the forefront. These two different approaches show how furniture choices can be used strategically in the re-functioning of historical buildings.
