Evaluation of the effectiveness of planned nursing education given to neonatal intensive care unit nurses for light and noise isolation in premature infants

This study was conducted as a pretest-posttest experimental design training study with intervention control group in the Maternity Hospital and Children's Hospital within the Ankara City Hospital between October 2021-2022 in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the planned nursing education on light and noise isolation in vatürasyo infants given to the NICU nurses. The sample of the study consisted of 70 NICU nurses, 35 intervention and 35 control. Data were collected using the Sociodemographic Data Collection Form and the NICU Noise and Light Education Evaluation Form. Number, percentage, mean, median, Independent Sample t, Paired Sample t, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman, Pearson-χ2 tests were used to evaluate the data. There was no statistically significant difference between the sociodemographic and study characteristics of the intervention and control groups (p>0.05). While there was no significant difference between the noise and light knowledge scores of the intervention and control groups before the training, a significant difference was found between the noise and light knowledge scores of the intervention group after the training (Z=-7.235; p=0.000; Z=-5.169; p=0.000, respectively). It was determined that the total knowledge level scores of the nurses in the intervention group after the training were significantly higher than the nurses in the control group.
