Aesthetics and ideology in Adalet Ağaoğlu's stories

Aesthetics is a process of configuration and transformation of the social reality and world by individual acts and creative mind. In a historical line, aesthetics is considered as a sensuous field of knowledge or a concept of idea on beauty. With the change of individual figure and social structure, aesthetic has entered into a mutual relationship with the notion of ideology which is centered in the social relations and practices. Especially, during the period when social mobility between classes has gained dynamic intensity aesthetics has included the phenomenon of ideology more intensely in its autonomous structure as a critical point of reference. In the process of literary creation, aesthetics establishes relations with ideology through text. The text is the basic element that provides compositional structure and integrity of narrative aesthetics. Adalet Ağaoğlu is a prominent writer in modern Turkish literature that transforms and configures social reality and ideological contents in aesthetic sense. The stories of Ağaoğlu are significant literary genres which produces aesthetics and ideology's mutual relations in a textual structure. The aim of this thesis is to investigate textual relations of aesthetics and ideology in Ağaoğlu's stories in terms of "emplotment, structure and technique". Ağaoğlu's story books Yüksek Gerilim, Sessizliğin İlk Sesi, Hadi Gidelim, Hayatı Savunma Biçimleri, Düşme Korkusu will be examined in terms of rhetoric of character, symptom/ideological content, medium/microcosm, narrative pace in the title of emplotment. In the title of structure, story books will be examined in terms of dialectic image, discursive structure, the image of author. In the title of technique, story books will be examined in terms of perspective/centers of consciousness, symbolic mediation, expressive intonation.
