The study ? Adana Province Folk Culture Research Karatas District? respectively analyzes the birth, circumcision, military, marriage and death traditions which are in a period of transition and the beliefs manifested around them, bayrams? ceremonies and fests, folk beliefs, folk kitchen, folk doctor and the products of anonymous folk literature.In the first part of the study historical, geographical and socio-culturel information is given about Karataş.In the second part of the study, Turkish folk culture?s written sources are focused on and the folk culture products are placed, the place of the culture of Karataş is tried to establish in Turskish culture. At the end of each chapter, there exists an assessment.In the third part of the study, Karataş?s anonymous folk litarature is analysed and the place is given for the products of the verse, verse-prose and prose anonymous folk literature in Turkish public culture and Karataş? s public culture is mentioned. The third part of the study is about a poet from Karataş and his poems.In conclusion, Turkish folk culture?s beliefs and traces which have been moved up to the present from past in Karataş?s folk culture are encountered.
