Abstract (EN)
The main goal of this study is to statistically determine the relationships between family communication patterns, emotional self-awareness and cognitive flexibility variables in the context of parents with preschool and primary school children. The research is a relational survey based on quantitative research. Based on the relational screening model of the research, a relational structure was created to statistically analyze the relationships between family communication patterns, emotional selfawareness and cognitive flexibility variables. The universe of the research consists of parents who have children in pre-school and primary school age. The research is limited to the data obtained from the sample of the research by means of questionnaires based on the quantitative research method. The data collection technique in the research is the survey method based on the quantitative research method. The questionnaire included psychometric scales with a 5-point Likert structure that served to measure the variables of the research. The research has three scales for three variables: "Family Communication Patterns", "Emotional Self-Awareness" and "Cognitive Flexibility". Intra-family communication patterns consist of 2 dimensions, 26 expressions; emotional self-awareness one dimension from 10 statements; cognitive flexibility consists of one dimension, 12 statements. It can be said that the participants of the research showed an intense dialogue orientation in family communication. In other words, harmony orientation, which is a more traditional approach where parents expect their children to obey hierarchy and authority, showed a lower average than the dialogue orientation in families. On the other hand, the levels of emotional self-awareness and cognitive flexibility of the participating parents who constituted the research sample were high.
