Abstract (EN)
In almost every period of the Ottoman Empire, artists and poets were patronized and artistic activities were supported by palace and state elders. The sultans, who were the center of the palace and the state, were also engaged in poetry and some of them had divan. The first poet-sultan who wrote the Divan was Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror who used the pseudonym Avnî. The sultan who is regarded as among the important poets of the 15th century, had a non-voluminous divan. Suleiman the Magnificent, who lived in the 16th century and ruled for a longer time than the other members of the dynasty, wrote poems with the pseudonym Muhibbî. The Divan of Muhibbî is one of the most voluminous divans written in Classical Turkish Literature. In this study; In Divans of Avnî and Muhibbî, who spent a significant part of their lives through wars and expeditions, the areas of use of the war and the elements of it were determined and the ways of poets to use these elements in their poems were discussed. While the identified and classified couplets are being alined, the priorities were given to Avnî's couplets since he lived in the 15th century. Then, if there is a similar use, the couplets of Muhibbî were written immediately after the others and they were compared. When the couplets were compared, the meaning of the concept in the couplet was expressed and the actual and metaphorical meaning layers were evaluated. While evaluating, different and similar usage areas were taken into consideration; the position of concepts in Turkish culture and literature and their historical backgrounds were investigated. Each area of usage is explained within the framework of the poetic themes it contains and it is concluded by comparing the aspects in which the two poets handle these elements. Thus, the connection of the poets' poems to war was revealed; by explaining the couplets which have historical reality, it was revealed how and to what extent the sultans reflected their poetry and sovereignty to their poems. Key Words: Avnî, Muhibbî, Divan, Classical Turkish Poetry, War.
