In context of Bakhtin's dialogism and heteroglossia concepts, polyphony in Alev Alatli's "is there anybody there" novel series

Mikhail Bakhtin, one of the outstanding language and literature theorists in XX. century, has established a original critism theory about artistic activities which modern human created by means of language. Although language philosophy and literature theory form a datum point of this criticism theory, Bakhtin evaluating language as an social and historical truth which is shaped and varied with social and ideological interaction, has become a theorist studying in also sociology, history, philosophy and culture researches. Bakhtin, building his literature critics on original concept such as dialogism, heteroglossia, polyphony, has contributed significantly to efforts of redefining and evaluating novel through his different point of view. It is aimed in this study to analyze Alev Alatlı's "Is There Anybody There" novel series which have important role in modern Turkish novel within the frame of genuine concepts constructing the basis of Bakhtin's literature criticism. For this purpose, this study is conducted with three main titles. The first part of the study, in title of "dialogical discourse", word types which come out within the scope of theoretical and linguistic structure of discourse concept are examined in titles based on Bakhtin's dialogical discourse and dialogical feature of novels is proved with reference to detected word types in novels. In "The Characteristics of Dialogue Fiction in Polyphonic Novel" section, that dialogues in novels are fictioned in polyphonic structure is shown based on that dialogue is detected to be live, interactive and unpredictable dynamic structure in which every type of character acts is occurred and with reference to that in dialogue process characters' voices make an alliance, separate, come together with inner voices in answer or intersection points, use different discourse styles such as direct and indirect discourse. Because "Is There Anybody There" novel series have social, ideological, cultural, ethnical and personal richness and varietal diversity in its narration, the last part of the study "Heteroglossia Structure in Polyphony" has become the most voluminous part. In "Is There Anybody There" novel series, that novels have a structure of multi expressive and multi language is presented detecting that theme is reflected blending together both discourses of narrating character, protagonist and different types of characters and narrative properties of scientific, artistics, religious, literal and visual types.
