Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to analyze the Turkish validity and reliability of the Parents' Perceived Children Exercise Barriers and Benefits Survey (PPEBa&e) and then to adapt this survey for children diagnosed with cancer.Typical developing children in the 6-15 age group were included in the study. First, the survey was adapted into Turkish. 225 typically developing children and their parents were included in the study. 87 participants underwent test-retest. The PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales- Parent Form was selected as the gold standard for validity analysis. PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales- Parent Form and PPEBa&e were applied to the parent participating in the study. There was a significantly poor relationship between the quality of life of the children and the support of parents to exercise their children (r=0.220, p<0.05). The ICC values of the substances and the Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the subheadings were calculated for reliability analysis. ICC values were between -0,036 and 0.926. The cronbach alpha coefficient of the total score was 0.925 for test practice and 0.896 for test retest. 34 diagnosed children and their parents were enrolled in the pilot study to improve the validity and reliability of the survey's Cancer Module. Parents were asked whether or not the questionnaire questions were appropriate and were asked to express if there was a necessary issue. A 10-question cancer module was created with the testimony of parents and the clinical experience of physiotherapists. 160 diagnosed children and their parents were enrolled in the study to analyze the reliability and validity of the cancer module. 50 participants underwent test-retest. Parents were administered Three-Day Physical Activity Questionnaire, Symptom Checklist and Visual Analog Scale. The Visual Analog Scale determined the extent to which the parent directed their child to exercise. Visual Analog Scale was selected for validity analysis. There was a significantly lower correlation between both scores (r=0.359, p<0.001). The ICC values of the survey questions were 0.154 to 0.833. The cronbach alpha coefficient of the total score was 0.895 for test practice and 0.857 for test-retest practice. The ÇEKFY - EAA Cancer Module we developed is reliable according to the analysis results and suitable for use in children diagnosed with cancer. We think it will provide effective information on ways to increase physical activity. Keywords: physical activity, physiotherapists, diagnosis, treatment
