Examination of the relationship between psychiatric symptoms and death anxiety in COVİD-19 patients

Aim: This study was conducted in individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 disease with the aim of wieving the relationship between psychiatric symptoms and death anxiety levels. Method: The universe of the research; Elazığ Fethi Sekin City Hospital established 1666 COVID-19 patients who were treated in the transformed services under the name of COVID-19 Pandemic Services. The sample of the study was determined as 313 patients by power analysis. The research dates were set as December 2020-February 2021. "Personal Information Form", "Brief Symptom Inventory" and "Oath Anxiety Scale" were used to collect data. In the the analysis of the relationship between the obtained data Pearson correlation analysis used, and in the comparison of the variables Sample t Test and One Way Anoya tests were used. Finding: The mean age of the COVID-19 patients participating in the study was 47.85±18.13, more than half of them were women (%54), married (%68.7) and living in the province (%59.4), the majority of them had children (%74, 1), lived with his family (%86.6) and perceived his economic status as normal (%66.5). In the study, the mean score of the Brief Symptom Inventory was 53.72±33.47, and the mean score of the Death Anxiety Inventory was determined as 25.66±16.13. It was observed that there was a two-way positive correlation between the Brief Symptom Inventory and the Death Anxiety Inventory. Result: According to the research findings, death anxiety levels were higher in patients who felt high levels of anxiety while suffering from COVID-19; It was found that the patients who felt low anxiety while having COVID-19 had lower death anxiety levels.
