Abstract (EN)

The research is cross-sectional and descriptive study that examines relationship between increased workload in Covid-19 intensive care units and nurses' level of burnout. Study population consists of nurses working in Covid-19 intensive care units. The sample consisted of volunteer nurses who work in Covid-19 intensive care unit at Yildirim Beyazit University Education and Research Hospital and meet inclusion criteria for study. Data were collected between November 1, 2022 - February 1, 2023. Data were gathered using Nurse Descriptive Information Form, MBI, and IWPS. Percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, and Spearman correlation analysis were used for data evaluation. Findings: There is statistically significant relationship between nurses' marital status, having children, and years of experience in terms of Emotional Exhaustion, subscale of MBI (p<0.05).There is statistically significant relationship between having children and working on shifts in terms of Depersonalization subscale of MBI (p<0.05).There is statistically significant relationship between overall job satisfaction and having children in terms of subscale of Peer Support (p<0.05), Statistical analysis indicates significant relationship among nurses' marital status, having children and working arrangements in terms of subscale of General Nurse Satisfaction in IWPS (p<0.05), Negative significant relationship at 0.01 significance level was observed between subscale of MBI and subscales of IWPS (p<0.05). Support programs for nurses should be provided and personnel employment in intensive care units should be increased.
