Abstract (EN)

This study is based on the beginner learners of Shepherd's Pipe training, in particular. A methodological work requires a technical learning for the sake of scientific education unlike the one carried on master-apprentice relationship mostly, in Turkey. An accomplished instrument training could be well-acquirable trough systematic work using the appopriate methods. This research mainly aims to introduce Shepherd's Pipe, which is one of the important wind instruments in Turkish folk music, and to suggest a method of a systematic education for beginner and mid level learners, as well. A careful research on the field was done and essential resources were sorted out and written down on the report. In the meantime, various changes and their effects on the learners' success were taken into consideration. The introduction of the report contains the wind instruments in Turkish folk music, Shepherd's Pipe particularly. The wind instruments and detailed information about the pipe family appear in the introduction part. Additionally, suggestions on the solutions to the outcoming obstacles during training process can be seen, as well. Essential information, suitable technics and training methods are given at Basic Education Level, prior to the training session. Verbal or non-verbal, all works/pieces used in this method are adapted for Shepherd's Pipe beforehand and taught in coordination. The method has been prepared for a total 3 periods of 14 weeks each. First period requires clean and flat sound acqusition and finger positions, besides the vibration technics, bounded blowing, repeat mark, finger and breathe accents are practised on carefully and appopriately chosen pieces. Second period aims the use of selective note,(stage preference in notes),the acqusition of rythm and metronome changes in the pieces of different rythms, the ways of using elective notes (the same note at different stages by intense blowing) and the use of some technics such as: trill, syncope, mordan, triole, glissando, nuance and volume. Third period aims to compose a repertoire adapted for Sheperd's Pipe from different scales and etudes in Turkish folk music.
