Abstract (EN)

In this study, the attachment styles and related characteristics of women who had natural birth and interventional birth with their babies in the postnatal period were investigated. The population of the research is made up of 170.084 women who gave birth via normal delivery at hospitals in Istanbul. With the sample calculation formula, the minimum number of samples was calculated as 271, with a 95% confidence interval and a 5% margin of error. In case of missing data, 300 women who gave birt constituted the sample. The sample is made up of 150 natural deliveries and 150 medically interfered deliveries in 6 hospitals on the European side of Istanbul. The data is gathered by having a one on one survey with 300 women at the dates between March 2023-November 2023. Data was collected with the useage of demographic information form, personal information form and Mother-Baby Attachment Scale (ABBÖ). As a result of examining the kurtosis and skewness values of the research variables, it was observed that they showed normal distribution. The differentiation in mother-infant attachment scale scores according to descriptive characteristics was examined with independent groups t-test, ANOVA and post hoc analyses. As a result of the research, it was determined that the type of birth desired by a significant portion of the participants was natural birth. The reasons for the interferences in the interfered type of deliveries are %58,7 of the time caused by problems related to the mother. For the participants who had normal deliveries, their first contact with the baby and the first time that they breastfed their babies were way earlier than the interfered delivery ones. İnterfered deliveries with 34-37 week old pregnancies had higher ABBÖ scores. There was a difference in the stotal score of mother-baby attachmnet scales in the particpants who had ineterfered deliveries. Suggestions were made in this essay for further rearches that could be done on this topic.
