The effects on behaviours and on success of the 9th grade students at the enviromental education with outdoor education

ABSTRACTIn this study ?The effects on behaviours and on success of the 9th grade students at the environmental education wiht outdoor education? was searched.The study was carried out as a semi experimental study appropriate for ?pre-test and post test model?. A group was chosen in order to be examined with success and behaviours according to the pre-test results.The study was performed during the 2010 ? 2011 educational year with the 9th grade students in Private İzmir Martı colleges in a 3 days camp of natural environment. 30 students were in the study group.In this study the specious in the fauna of Ovacık Region were determined. Ovacık Region, thanks to its geographical condition, is a very suitable zone for a natural education. The students were provided to find out the subjects of biological differences with an enjoyable method in which they they had a chance of observation the animals like ants, butterflies, birds, frogs, squirrels, reptiles and the observation of plants like larch and panderosa and also beside performing some activities for the students? attention to inanimate entity.The data tools in the study were ?Attitude Scale for environment Questionnaire? and ?the Environmental Behaviour Subscale Questionnaire? which were prepared by Essociate Prof. Dr.Naim Uzun and Essociate Prof. Dr. Gaye Teksöz. The success scale was from the current evaluation questions prepared by The Turkish Republic, National Ministery of Education, the Chairman of the Board Education in 2007 for the benefit of Bioligy teachers.In order to analiyse the quantitative datum SPSS 11.00 program was used. The datum was presented as tables including necessary discoveries.After carrying out the program, a meaningful difference was determined according to the Attitude Scale which was used (t(47, 0,05) = 2,26, p = 0,010 < 0,05). And A meaningful difference was determined according to the success scale (t(48, 0,05) = 1,83, p = 0,011< 0,05).As a result of this study it is established that natural experinced education program has ensured a meaningful difference from traditional current education program from the point of view students? behaviours and success.After the experimental performing according to the results of the success test, a difference with students? pre-test from post-test (t(41, 0,05) = 3,10, p = ,003 < 0,05) was determined. From this result it is established that natural experinced education has an important effect for the rise of students? success.After the experimental performing according to the results of the success and attitude test, a difference was not determined with students post-test from the view of their sex (t(40, 0,05) = 1,37, p=0,126 > 0,05). So it can be said that the sex of students do not affect post-test points.The qualitative datum from the study were deeply analysed and explained as texts with the comparison of confirming percents and with the comments the open questions and explained as concretized.As a result of analyses of the qualitative datum; the students who were educated in natural experinced learning has an important difference with their comprehension of prestudy term and afterstudy term for their gaining the concepts such as nature, environment, animalsKey words: Environmental education, Environmental education in nature, Natural education, Biological differences, Informal learning environment, fauna differences.
