Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of knowledge of the Midwifery and Nursing students about gestational diabetes. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive study. Research sample; Midwifery and Nursing students between the grades of 2-3 and 4 who are educated in the fall semester of 2018-2019 and agree to participate in the study are students. The data were collected with " Student Information Form" and " Gestational Diabetes Information Form". Data were analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 package program. Results: The mean age of the students was 21.47 ± 2,032 years, 82,9% of them were women and 25,6% of them were graduates of health vocational high schools. The Gestational Diabetes Information Form score of the students is 12,99 ± 3,369. The most appropriate answer to the items of Gestational Diabetes Information Form was "In the case of hypoglycemia, sweating, tremors, palpitations or irritability ocur" have emerged as substances list. The most wrong item is "Fasting blood glucose levels above 140 mg / dl are called hyperglycemia". The items that the students say that they do not know the most "The gestational week of OGTT, which is a screening of gestational diabetes, is 24-28. weeks "and "Smoking during pregnancy may increase HbA1c levels" substances were determined. Conclusion: Students should be informed about the misconceptions related to gestational diabetes and their knowledge should be clarified.
