Mefhum-mâsadaq distinction in Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır and opening of meaning according to the phenomenon

Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır (1878-1942) created an important sphere of influence after him with his commentary called Hak Dini Kur'ân Dili. This impact is a result of the reflection of the depth that Elmalılı has in most of the Islamic sciences in his tafsir. In this study, Elmalılı's commentary has been examined by considering the mefhum-mâsadaq distinction. It has been determined that these concepts, which are handled in both logic and usûl al-fiqh sciences, are also discussed in the science of tafsir by Elmalılı. With this distinction he made, Elmalılı had the opportunity to combine the expressions mentioned in the context of the interpretation of a verse in a higher discourse. Elmalılı also dealt with some verses whose meanings emerged over time in the context of this distinction, so he managed to keep the verses alive at all times. In his Hak Dini Kur'ân Dili, Elmalılı has used many disciplines effectively in Islamic sciences, especially in determining the mefhum and revealed the interdisciplinary nature of the science of tafsir. The search for mâsadaqs from history for the mefhums that Elmalılı determined is important in terms of showing that the meaning of the Qur'an always continues to be effective. This study will examine what Elmalılı means by the mefhum-mâsadaq distinction, first theoretically and then through practical examples in Hak Dini Kur'ân Dili.
