The study of the relationship between emotional self- efficacy and trait anxiety of adolescents

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the adolescents' emotional self-efficacy and trait anxiety and whether the levels of emotional self-efficacy and trait anxiety differ according to sociodemografic variables of adolescents The universe of the investigation is consisted of all 12th. grade students attending at state high schools of Ministry of Education Efeler, Nazilli in Aydın. The sample of the survey is consisted of 167 girls and 133 boys, totally, 300 students. The data was collected by emotional Self-Efficacy Scala (DÖYÖ) and Trait Anxiety (SKÖ) and questionnaire which was developed by the researcher. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 22 programme. Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test was applied to determine whether data set was or was not normally distrubuted. It was stated that data was not normally distrubuted. Accordingly, the data was analyzed by Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H. Corelation analysis, Spearman Brown analysis was used. According to results, ıt was found that there was no statistically significant relationship between emotional self-efficacy and trait anxiety of adolescents. There wasn't any statistical difference between emotional self-efficacy levels and the levels of emotional self- efficacy subscalas and trait anxiety levels according to father education level, sosyo-economic state, whether or not the parents live together, perceived attitute of mother. In addition, It was determined that, emotional self efficacy and emotional self efficacy subscalas and trait anxiety average score of the adolescents showed statistically significant differences according to feeling powerfull to fight against the difficulties. It was shown that, emotional self-efficacy average score of adolescents showed differences according to; maternal educational level, perceived school performance, whether or not getting help from mothers, expression of their happy, understanding the causes of positive emotions, understanding the causes of negative emotions. But, the mean score of emotional self-efficacy of adolescents was not found to differ by gender, parental educational level, sosyo-economic state, whether or not parents live together, perceived attitute of mother, perceived attitute of father, expression of their sorry, being excited, panicy quickly. It was found that, trait anxiety average score of adolescents showed statistical differences according to the gender, perceived attitute of father, expression of their sorry, being excited, panicky quickly. However, ıt was found that, trait anxiety average score of adolescents did not show any differences according to maternal educational level, paternal educatinal level, socio-economic state, whether or not parents live together, perceived attitute of mother, perceived school performance, whether or not getting help from mothers, expression of their happy, understanding the causes of positive emotions, understanding the causes negative emotions. Also, It was examined that, whether the mean scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of emotional not differentiate according to socio-demographic variables.
