Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this research is to analyze the relationships among basic psychological needs, marital conflict resolution styles and psychological well-being in married individuals. In this context, the effects of basic psychological needs and marital conflict resolution styles on the psychological well-being were investigated. At the same time, the mediating role of marital conflict resolution styles in the relationship between psychological needs and psychological well-being was investigated. The study group of the research consisted of 357 individuals who have been married for at least one year and also reside in İzmir and Aydın. Four different self-report data collection tools, namely Demographic Information Form, Psychological Well-Being Scale, Conflict Resolution Styles Scale, and Basic Psychological Needs Scale, were applied to the participants. SPSS, LISREL and JASP programs were used in the analysis of the data. Relationships between variables were analyzed with Decision Tree (CHAID) and Structural Equation Model (SEM). According to the findings of the decision tree analysis, it was found that the best defining variable of psychological well-being of married individuals is the need for autonomy. Other variables which defined psychological well-being of married individuals are negative conflict resolution style, need for competence and need for relatedness. According to the findings of the path analysis of structural equation model, positive conflict resolution style had positive partial mediation effect between need for relatedness and psychological well-being; obedience conflict resolution style had positive partial mediation effect between need for competence and psychological well-being; obedience conflict resolution sytle had negative partial mediation effect between need for autonomy and psychological well-being; negative and retreat conflict resolution styles did not have mediating effect between needs for authonomy, competence and relatedness and psychological well-being.
