Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study is to compare the composite resins used in the anterior region in terms of color change and water absorption over time. Materials and Methods: In our study, 9 different aesthetic composites Estelite Asteria (Tokuyama, Japan), Beautifil II (Shofu, USA), Charisma Diamond (Kulzer, Australia), Clearfil Majesty Esthetic (Kuraray, Japan), Essentia (GC, Germany), Filtek Ultimate (3M, Germany), Ceram X Duo (Dentsply, USA), Tetric Evo Ceram (Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein), Aura (SDI, Australia) were used. Forty samples of each material, a total of 360 samples were prepared. Composite resins were placed in Teflon molds with a depth of 2 mm and a diameter of 10 mm and polymerized using a LED light source (Guilin Med. Ins., China) in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. After finishing (Soflex, 3M, Germany) and polishing (Composite Polishing Rubber, Taiwan), each material was divided into 4 groups. Initial color measurements for color stability were made using VITA Easyshade V (VITA Zahnfabrik, Germany). Then the materials were grouped to include 10 samples from each material; dipped in tea, coffee and distilled water. For water absorption, the weight of 10 samples of each material was measured with a precision balance. Color and weight measurements of all samples were repeated at the end of 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 6 months. Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests were used as statistical methods. Results: It was determined that there was a significant difference (p<0.05) between the materials in each measurement in terms of color stability. It was determined that water absorption increased with time and there was a significant difference (P=0.0000) between materials in terms of water absorption in each measurement. Conclusion: It was determined that the color stability and water absorption of each composite resin were significantly different from each other. It was concluded that there is no direct relationship between water absorption and coloration. Keywords: anterior composite, color stability, water absorption, aesthetics, restorative material
