Abstract (EN)

In this research article, the change and development processes of Turkish Film posters in 40 years between 1980-2020 were examined. With the advancing technology, poster designs appear with its elements as a new communication tool. The new technologies of the communication age, which have developed rapidly from traditional studies to the present, have also been reflected in poster works, and it is seen that these technological elements have prepared the posters infrastructure. In this context, the half-century development process of movie poster designs in Turkish Cinema was examined by graphic design understanding. In the study, it was selected the most well-known and popular posters of Turkish films published during the years mentioned above. The predominant factor of selecting these movie posters, which were examined in the research article, was that they had cultural and visual elements related to each other in the periods. In terms of visual principles, elements such as harmony, integrity, proportion and contrast were taken into account in the posters. The socio-cultural and the changes of the individuals mentioned in the film have been tried to be examined from a psychological point of view. Topics such as the glorification of the city, the transition from the village to the city, nostalgia, the inner world of the individual were reflected in the posters of the period. Visual content is required for a poster to be perceived by the audience. The audience should be informed about the subject and content of a movie that they have no knowledge of, and should be shared with the target-oriented information that is desired to be achieved. The traditional design of the past has left its place to the digital world today. Thus, over time, changes have occurred in the time spent and the language of design. The art of photography is one of the most important elements in the poster. When photography is combined with design software, it has both increased its usage areas and increased the existing variations of the design. Among the outstanding films, the movie posters of "Züğürt Ağa", "Muhsin Bey", "Anayurt Oteli", "Eşkıya", "Tabutta Rövaşata", "Gemide", "Vizontele", "Hokkabaz" and "Nuh Tepesi" were evaluated in terms of visual communication design.
