Examination of İhsan Özgen's kemenche improvisations and their use in to new performances

In this study, the improvisations of İhsan Özgen, who made significant contributions to the kemenche instrument, were examined in terms of composition (in terms of form, melody, rhythm) and performance (performing techniques, interpretation) and used personal motifs, rhythmic structures, bow techniques, ornament techniques, mode playing. It is aimed to analyze his attitude with scientific analyzes by determining the use of frets, flavors and unique expression elements. In the research, written and visual sources that can contribute to the subject were reached by scanning the literature. Afterwards, Özgen's partition records were reached and the partitions to be examined within the scope of the research were determined. The sample of the research consists of Acemkurdî and Isfahan kemenche improvisations. These improvisations were listened to over and over again, scrutinized down to the smallest detail, and tried to be translated into notation through the Finale notation program. The partitions that are the subject of the study were divided into sentences and each sentence was analyzed separately. In the analysis, first of all, the work was examined under the title of melody - mode, and then under the sub-title of close view, the titles and sentences were analyzed in detail in terms of structure - melody, rhythm and performance. After the detailed analysis, the evaluations of the partitions were made separately from each other and some of the data obtained were explained with tables and graphics. Finally, the common features of improvisations performances were determined and explained. In the research; literature review, analysis, interpretation, comparison, statistical analysis and oral interview methods were used. As a result of the research, the characteristics that determine Özgen's attitude are presented in a concrete way and some suggestions are made by evaluating the contribution of this attitude to new performances.
