Psycho-social factors affecting medicine consumption and a research to determi̇nerational medicine consumption perception

Medicine is an indispensable part of health services . It is a substance that , when used correctly, while lifting negativities that threaten human health and life, can put an end to human life when it is used improperly. For this reason, it has an important place in community health. The rational use of medicine continues to be and remains a significant health issue in developed and developing countries. Due to these reasons rational medicine applications have gained importance in world countries. In this study, it was studied whether psycho-socialfactors affecting medicine consumption and demographic characteristics such as age , gender, education and income level and whether or not they depend on any social security institution affect rational medicine use. Within the scope of this study 300 drug users were reached in İstanbul Beykoz and 300 in Mardin Kızıltepe districts. In order to obtain the demographic information of a total of 600 medicine users, a questionnare form prepared by there searcher was applied to obtain the data. In this study, demographic characteristics of Istanbul Beykoz district, education, income level , and whether it was subject to any social security institution were found to have an affect on medicine users' attitudes , but gender was not a significant factor. For Mardin Kızıltepe district it has been determined that age is an important factor whereas other demographic features are not important factors. Regional differences in medicine use have also been found to affect attitudes towards medicine use.
