Quali̇ty of li̇fe among inferti̇le couples: The relationship between quali̇ty of li̇fe i̇n inferti̇li̇ty, social support and self-esteem

This research was conducted as a descriptive study to determine the relationship between quality of life in infertile couples: infertility quality of life, social support and self-esteem. The population of the study consists of all couples who were unable to conceive within 12 months or more after pre-planned unprotected sexual intercourse and applied to Nasiriyah Teaching Hospital in DhiQar Governorate of Iraq. The study was conducted with 98 volunteer infertile couples who applied to the infertility clinics of Nasiriyah Training Hospital between 15 March and 20 April 2022 and met the inclusion criteria. Four types of data collection tools were used in the study: Personal Information Form, Fertility Quality of Life Questionnaire (FertiQoL), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RES). The obtained data were analyzed with the IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 25.0 Statistics Package Program. Descriptive statistical methods and difference tests were used in data analysis. At the end of the study, it was determined that there was a positive correlation between the quality of life of women and men and their perceptions of social support, and there was a positive correlation between the quality of life of infertile men and their self-esteem.
