Abstract (EN)

Arabic and Turkish are languages belonging to different language families. There are also structural differences between two languages that are different in origin, and they naturally have different sound systems. Many linguists say that the Arabic spoken in Iraq is derived from the origin and grammar of Standard Arabic. Turkish and Arab societies, which have lived together or side by side for over a thousand years, have a common history in the field of language as well as in the social and cultural field. With the conversion of the Turks to Islam, the interaction between these two languages became inevitable and thousands of words were exchanged in many areas of life. The influence of the Turkish language on the Iraqi Arabic dialect can be found in many business names, titles, adjectives, etc. Although the Arabic language greatly influenced Turkish, Turkish also directly or indirectly influenced the Arabic dialects and brought many vocabulary to these dialects. However, many of them have undergone changes in form and pronunciation. On the other hand, the Arabic language has a structure consisting of the majority of consonants, unlike Turkish, which is one of the languages rich in vowels. This study focuses on the influence of Turkish language on Iraqi Arabic. Data were obtained by selecting Turkish words, daily conversations, proverbs and idioms used in Iraq from various dictionaries published in Iraq. In this study, Turkish words used in Iraqi Arabic dialect were examined in terms of phonetics, morphology and semantics. In this study, various examples of Turkish words in Iraqi Arabic dialect are combined and consonant and vowel changes in these words are shown. In addition, historical information about Iraq and some features of the Iraqi Arabic dialect are also included in the study.
