Abstract (EN)
Prosthetic rehabilitation of edentulous alveolar ridge is a frequently performed procedure in dentistry. Bone augmentation procedures should be performed before prosthetic rehabilitation of inadequate alveolar ridge with implants. Autogenous grafts, allografts, xenografts and membranes are used for this purpose. The advantages and disadvantages of all these materials have been documented in a variety of clinical and experimental studies. It has been stated that autogenous grafts are still the gold standard. Many methods have been used in order to harvest autogenous bone from donor site such as bone scrapers and bone collectors. Altough there are many studies regarding the bacterial contamination of autogenous graft harvested with bone collectors, there is inadequate data in the literature about bone scrapers. In this research antimicrobial efficiency of ozone on the contaminated autogeneous graft which were harvested either of these two methods during the surgical extractions of fully impacted mandibular third molar teeth was evaluated. By this way it was aimed to contribute to the bone augmentation procedures which is performed frequently in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Keywords: Bacterial Contamination, Bone Scraper, Bone Collector, Ozone Gas, Autogenous Bone.
