Abstract (EN)

Research; The aim of this study was to determine the effects of respiratory cough exercises and oxygen therapy on shoulder pain and analgesic consumption after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. This study, which was planned as a randomized controlled intervention study, included 105 (Intervention group (Group 1: 35, Group 2: 35) and Control group (Group 3)), who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Çukurova University Balcalı Hospital Health Practice and Research Center General Surgery clinic and met the sampling criteria: 35 ) with patients. Deep breathing cough exercises were applied to Group 1 and 2 from the intervention groups, starting from the 4th hour after the operation, and 2lt/min O2 treatment was applied to Group 2 for the first hour after the operation, and no intervention was applied to the control group (Group 3). Data were collected through the Patient Descriptive Information Form and the Pain Evaluation Form. In the evaluation of the data, "Kruskal-Wallis H chi-square, Friedman chi-square test, correlation analysis, normally distributed numerical variables as mean±standard deviation, non-normally distributed numerical variables as median (min-max), categorical variables number and percentage were used. Although there was an increase in pain levels in all groups at the 2nd and 12th hours after surgery, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the intervention groups (Group 1 and Group 2) in pain levels at the 12th hour (p<0.05). There was a negative and statistically significant difference between pain levels and SPO2 values in all groups (p<0.05). Nonopioids were consumed in lesser amounts in the intervention groups (Group1, Group 2) compared to the control group (Group 3) (p>0.05), while opioids were consumed only in the control group (Group 3). In conclusion, it was determined that respiratory cough exercises and oxygen therapy after laparoscopic cholecystectomy reduced shoulder pain and the amount of analgesic consumption.
