Perceptions of undergraduate students on "Non-governmental organizations": The case of Konya

The importance of non-governmental organizations is increasing day by day. Many governments around the world aim to increase youth participation. In this direction, governments that implement various policies should cooperate with non-governmental organizations in order to increase the participation of young people and make them individuals who take an active role in the political arena with young people. Because today's youth will have the opportunity to work in important institutions of the state in the future and will even manage the state. Considering the possibility that young people will be involved in the society in various positions in the future and even lead the society, a youth away from civil society has become unthinkable. Because one of the most important channels of understanding and getting involved in society is non-governmental organizations. Young people participating in non-governmental organizations will have the opportunity to reach the depths of society. Perception of "Civil Society Organizations" by Undergraduate Level University Students: The Konya Case Study aims to measure the extent to which undergraduate students participate in non-governmental organizations and the perceptions of young people towards non-governmental organizations.Within the scope of the study, a survey was conducted in the light of demographic information to measure the perceptions of undergraduate university students studying in Konya as non-governmental organizations. Within the framework of the field research, a questionnaire was applied to the students of Selçuk University, Konya Food and Agriculture University, Necmettin Erbakan University, KTO Karatay University and Konya Technical University using non-random sampling method. A total of 154 students were surveyed. The study consists of three parts in total. In the first part, various results were reached in line with the field research on the subject of civil society organizations, in the second part on the subject of political participation, and in the third part on the perception of university students on non-governmental organizations. It was found that "undergraduate university students do not participate in non-governmental organizations".
