Determining the factors of voting behaviors of conservative electorate: Case of Ankara

With the referendum in Turkey in 2017, a transition was made from the parliamentary system to the Presidential Government System, and then a bipolar political model consisting of the "Cumhur İttifakı" and the "Millet İttifakı" was executed. The concept of "conservatism" has been at the center of the discussions because of the key roles of the conservative parties within the components of these alliances. Therefore, in terms of political institutions, it is important to put forth the motives that determine the voting behavior of conservative voters. A face-to-face survey study was conducted with 'Simple Random Sampling' method in order to determine the voting behavior of 750 voters over the age of 18 and conservative voters in the central districts of Ankara. For the necessary analysis, the data were tested in the context of the variables determined through the application of 'SPSS 21.0' and 'AMOS 21.0' (95% confidence interval). In the light of the data obtained, similar concepts were encountered between classical conservatism and the perception of conservatism in the minds of Turkish voters, and it was observed that it contained an ideology built on "religiousness", which differed from universal conservatism.
