Abstract (EN)

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease in the world. NAFLD is characterized by excess fat accumulation in the liver in people without a history of alcohol use or hepatic steatosis due to a secondary cause. The prevalence of obesity, prediabetes and type 2 diabetes is increasing day by day. There is also an increase in the prevalence of NAFLD, which is a very common condition in these patients. In our study, we aimed to show the relationship between metabolic parameters, body composition parameters obtained by bioelectrical impedance analysis and ultrasonographic liver elastography findings in obese, prediabetes and type 2 diabetes patients with NAFLD. Our study was conducted with 160 individuals including 40 obese, 40 prediabetic, 40 diabetic patients with hepatosteatosis, 40 healthy individuals as the control group. Patients who were diagnosed with NAFLD by ultrasonography and/or transient elastography in the last six months were included in the study. The data of the patients in the study were investigated prospectively. Body measurements, blood parameters, elastography, and tanita measurements were evaluated. In our study, BMI, fat %, fat mass, neck circumference, levels of those with NAFLD were higher than those without hepatosteatosis, and a significant difference was observed. (p<0.001). In our study, a positive correlation was found between the degree of NAFLD USG adiposity and the ratio of visceral fat. In our study, a relationship was found between the visceral fat ratio and the severity of NAFLD (p<0.001). In our study, insulin resistance was found to be associated with the presence of NAFLD and the severity of the disease (p<0.001). In conclusion, our findings indicate that insulin resistance has an important place in the pathogenesis of NAFLD, which is a common condition in prediabetes, diabetes and obese patients. The severity of NAFLD disease is closely related to metabolic parameters and body fat rate markers. Liver elastography, which is used in the detection of fibrosis, which is an important consequence of the progression of the disease, gives us important results in determining the severity of the disease. Determining the severity of NAFLD disease and arranging treatment will prevent disease progression and complication development. Key words: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), elastography, body composition parameters, metabolic parameters
