Ön çapraz bağ rekonstrüksiyonu i̇le birlikte uygulanan artroskopik menisküs onariminin cerrahi sonrasi rehabilitasyona etkileri

Başkent University, Institute of Health Sciences, Physiotheraphy and Rehabilitation, MSc Thesis, Ankara, 2018.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of meniscal repair on rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament surgery. In this study; the outcomes of rehabilitation after meniscal repair with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction compared with the outcomes of rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Out of 30 patients enrolled in the study , 15 of them who had only anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction form group 1 (n=15, age:34±8),, and 15 others who received both meniscal repair and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction form group 2(n=15, age: 27±8) . The rehabilitation programme for group 1 and group 2 was started at the first day after the surgery and continued for 6 weeks. Both groups followed the same rehabilitation programme. Patients in group 2 were not allowed to weight bearing and knee flexion beyond 90 degrees for 15 days because of the meniscal repair. During the rehabilitation programme both groups were evaluated with the same methods at the end of the first, second, forth and sixth weeks. Quadriceps and hamstring strength measurements were performed with hand dynamometer and knee joint range of motions were assesed with inclinometer. The thigh circumference was measured 5, 10 and 15 cm above the medial tibial plateau using with tape measure. Functional results were evaluated by Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale. As a result of evaluation, at the end of the first fourth and sixth weeks, group 1 quadriceps muscle strength was higher than group 2(p=0.011, p=0.048, p=0.001) . Although at the end of the second week the muscle strength averages were different, this was not statistically significant (p>0,05). There were no differences between group 1 and 2 about thigh circumference measurement, knee joint flexion angle and Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale (p>0.05). But at the end of first and second weeks there were significant differences in limitation of extension between group 1 and 2(p=0.006, p=0.012) . The outcome of our study is that meniscal repair may have adverse effects on quadriceps muscle strength and full extensional range of motion due to restrictive rehabilitation program.
