Abstract (EN)

Ovarian tumors are of epithelial, stromal, or germ cell origin, and it is thought that epithelial tumors develop from a single-row mesothelium covering the ovarian surface. MDM2 (Murine Double Minute 2) is a protooncogene. The MDM2 gene acts as a cell cycle regulator that negatively regulates p53, a tumor suppressor gene. In normal cells, p53 and MDM2 are synthesized in balance. p53 increases the expression of its own inhibitör, MDM2 and ensures that this balance in the cell is maintained. Some modifications to p53 and MDM2 occur when a damage occurs in the cell or when the cell receives a signal not to divide, inhibiting the interaction between these two proteins, allowing p53 to remain active. This study, 63 cases diagnosed as serous tumor by histopathologically examining overian tumors were included. In our study, the detection of MDM2 and P53 expressions in benign, borderline and malignant serous tumor groups of the ovary and the effect of this gene on malignant transformation were examined. Immunohistocystochemical stainings for anti-p53, MDM2 and compesite index were evaluated in terms of positive cell distribution and density, and statistical analysis was performed. In the analysis, while evaluating the MDM2 and p53 scores of the benign, borderline and malignant groups, their age distribution was also taken into account. Anti-p53 expression showed a significant increase in the malignant group and decreased MDM2 in the malignant group. According to the ICS scoring results, there is a significant increase in the anti-p53 index score in the malignant group compared to the benign (p<0.001) and borderline (p=0.0013) groups, while for MDM2, there is a significant decrease in the malignant group compared to the benign (p=0.0015) and borderline (p=0.0052) groups. As a result, it was seen that MDM2 and p53 ICS scoring results had a moderate negative significant relationship in the correlation analysis fort he malignant group.
