Definition of special talent through the social-emotional development of children

This research includes interviewing the parents of gifted students at primary school level, their classroom teachers and the students themselves; Within the scope of defining giftedness, it includes examining the reflections of gifted children's social emotional development and self-perceptions. The case study model, which is a qualitative research method, was used in the research. The study was carried out with 12 students attending BİLSEM (Science and Art Center) located in Muğla province, Milas and Bodrum districts, 13 students' parents and 8 students' teachers (primary school class and branch teachers). "Semi-Structured Interview Form for Getting to Know the Gifted Child/Children (Separately For Teachers, Parents and Students)" was used as a data collection tool. Each of the semi-structured interview form consists of 30 questions, the general research question and sub-problems were tried to be answered with the questions in the form. Each interview took place on the online platform, with a maximum duration of 45 minutes. The collected data was first deciphered with the help of Sonix program and then transferred to MAXQDA program to form code and theme. Content analysis method was used for data analysis. In this context, the conceptual structure was pre-constructed throughout the analysis process and the determinated code list guided the content analysis. However, the analysis process was completed with the addition of the codes that emerged from the inductive point of view to the list. As a result of the codes and themes that emerged here, research findings and results were reached.
