Abstract (EN)

Since the invention of photography, many artists have wanted to draw attentions to the concept, which they have desired to point out in their photographs, by creating technical or aesthetical variations. The modernist movement supporters have been in efforts to keep the position of photography away from painting by preserving it within the photography discipline. After modernism period, the postmodernist artists have made rather painterly photographs. On the other hand, some artists carried out experiments of the post production effects by altering the printing and presentation techniques, and produced art works studying the contributions to the art. In the following postmodernism period, the photography oriented to the experimental post production printing methods by manipulating the photographs. On the other hand, during postmodernism period causing radical changes in techniques, using the ready-mades initiated new creative techniques in photography. In this study, the examples of Modernism, Dadaism, Surrealism and Popart periods before Postmodernism and the artists using alternative and experimental techniques will be examined. In the light of these works, an experimental printing technique named "Abandoned Memories" was studied and the technical details were presented.
