Abstract (EN)

Psychostimulant drugs used in the treatment of neurological and comorbid disorders can create cognitive effects by changing the chemical balances in the brain. Additionally, it is known that these drugs can have side effects and lead to addiction. Changes in mental processes can be observed in individuals who are addicted to psychostimulant substances and drugs, which can lead to disturbances in their mood, behavior, and motor skills. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of forgiveness and self-compassion on subjective well-being among psychostimulant addicts. This research has a cross-sectional design, and the subject of the study is the relational scanning model. It is based on quantitative data and is a survey study. The study was conducted in December 2022 with participants who continued to receive treatment in three different psychotherapy centers in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The sample of the study consisted of 159 individuals between the ages of 18-22 who were diagnosed with psychostimulant addiction, determined by purposeful sampling method and deemed appropriate for the scope of the study. In this study, participants were administered a socio-demographic information form, the Heartland Forgiveness Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale, and the Subjective WellBeing Scale. It was found that there was a negative and good level relationship between subjective well-being and self-compassion, a negative relationship between subjective well-being and the self-forgiveness sub-dimension of the forgiveness scale, and a positive relationship between subjective well-being and the otherforgiveness and situation-forgiveness sub-dimensions. A positive and moderate relationship was observed between self-compassion and the other-forgiveness subdimension, and a negative and moderate relationship was observed between selfcompassion and the situation-forgiveness sub-dimension. It was determined that the forgiveness scale, the self-compassion scale, and the subjective well-being scale were not suitable for the multivariate linear regression analysis of the data set, and the predictive effect of forgiveness and self-compassion on subjective well-being in individuals with psychostimulant addiction was emphasized in terms of treatment methods against addiction by focusing on forgiveness and self-compassion to increase subjective well-being. Keywords: Forgiveness, Self-compassion, Subjective Well-Being.
