Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, we have tried to compare the mystical concepts in Sülemî's Hakâiku't-tafsîr and Kuşeyrî's mystical Quranic exegesis called Letâifü'l-işârât. By comparing the main mystical concepts in the two works, we tried to determine the meanings the authors attributed to the concepts, the similarities and differences they had with each other in this regard and the terminologies that only one of them was recorded to have used. Thus, we tried to understand and put forth the mystical and Sufi point of view of the period in which the authors lived, by revealing the kind of evolution and repetition occurred in the mystical and Sufi terms within the period between Sülemî'(the teacher)and Kuşeyrî'(the student). This study consists of an introduction and three chapters. In the first chapter, an overview of the formation process of Sufi concepts and mystical exegesis, the period and characteristics of Sülemî and Kuşeyrî - information about the political and scholarship situation of the X and XI century - and the Khorasan region was presented. In the second chapter, personal and scholarly lives, teachers, students and scholarly works of both authors were examined. The two authors were briefly introduced, their famous teachers and students were also introduced on the order of dates of death. In the third chapter, the mystical concepts in the aforementioned Quranic exegesis, which form the main body of this study, were analysed. These concepts were discussed under two main titles: "Ethical concepts", i.e concepts related to worship, morality and ethics. "Concepts of realization", i.e concepts related to heart, conscience and knowledge. In the conclusion and evaluation part, the mystical concepts that Sülemî and Kuşeyrî coined or mentioned in their works (exegesis) were evaluated from three different perspectives: methodological, terminological and epistemological. As a result of this evaluation, the points of agreement and disagreement of both scholars were revealed as far as it was determined.
