The 16th century Quran bindings in the Trust Treasure Library in the Topkapı Palace Museum

In this study, titled "The 16th Century Quran Bindings In The Trust Treasure Library In The Topkapı Palace Museum", 33 pieces of the Holy Qur'an Bindings, which are in the Trust Treasure Library, bearing the characteristics of the 16th century were introduced and dated. 17 of these bindings belong to Sanjak Holy Qur'ans. The study is mainly divided into five parts. In the First Chapter, the titles of "Definition, Purpose and Limits of the Subject", "Method", "Research on the Subject" and "History of the Topkapı Palace Museum Library" are given briefly. In the Second Chapter, "The Definition and History of Binding", "Parts of the Binding", "Parts of the Cover" and "Types of Binding" were introduced under the main title of "Turkish-Islamic Bookbinding Art". This last title was handled under two sub-titles as "Binding Types of Material" and "Binding Types of Decoration Technique". The Third Section is the catalog section. A total of 33 Holy Qur'an and Sanjak Mushaves, which are located in the Trust Treasure Library and are considered suitable to work on in terms of artistic value and dated to the 16th century, are studied in this section. In the Fourth Chapter, the examples included in the catalog are evaluated in detail with the headings of "Material and Color", "Technique", "Parts of the Binding" and "Ornamentation" and the sub-titles of these headings. In the fifth chapter, the study was concluded by mentioning the findings obtained under the title of "Conclusion" and the importance of bookbinding art.
