Determination of rhythm syllables utilized in Turkish Folk Music and an analysis on their relationship with word composition

The purpose of this study prepared as a postgraduate thesis for Republic of Turkey; Halic University's Postgraduate Institute for Turkish Music Program is to break via use of words down the rhythm syllabus, which are identified in the repertoire of instrumental music and defined by city names in TRT Turkish Folk Music, into beats and hence establish ease in rhythm solfege. In the introduction section, we explained the purpose and the research problem. In the second section, general information has been included. Methods and time signature in Turkish Folk Music are elaborated. Identification of such music terms such as time signature, beat, rhythmics, and composition has been fortified through the use of shapes and instructions. The Rhythm solfege methods utilized in Turkey and in rest of the world have been mentioned. In the third section, the tools utilized, and the approach/discipline followed has been mentioned. And in the findings section, rhythm syllable's arrow beat signs break down through arrow words are through the use of shapes demonstrated. Aforementioned rhythm syllable are determined through examination of 688 pieces of tracks that are in the repertoire of TRT Turkish Folk Music's instrumental music. The rhythm syllable that are determined are identified along with the city names. Identified rhythm syllables frequency of prevalence within the tracks have been determined and written in the light of quantitative data. In the final section, through which method, the rhythm syllables had been coincided the most in the tracks as well as the data on in which method how many tracks have been determined have been demonstrated in the light of information and findings gathered. With the use of the analysis on word composition, instead of eye movements scanning the scales faster and attaching time values through sensation, formation of word composition in order for easing decryption has been aimed. Afterwards, the aim was to solve the rhythm solfège through separation of these composition formed via use of Arrow. In accordance with this purpose, it has been determined that easiness in decryption of rhythm syllable's that seem sophisticated can be achieved.
