Abstract (EN)

Baraj MG. Examination of physicalpropertiesand mineral contents of drinking water in some villages in Van and Mardin provinces. Van Yuzuncu Yil University Institute of Health Sciences Department of Veterinary Biochemistry Master Thesis, Van, 2019. This study was carried out to investigate the physical properties of 40 drinking water sample staken from 20 points selected from each province in Mardin and Van in terms of their heavy metal and mineral contents and to evaluate the quality of drinking water according to the results obtained. Water samples were taken from the selected points in two regions in August 2018 and sent to the laboratory under appropriate conditions to make the necessary analyzes. Theionand metal analyzes of the samples were carried out at Van Yuzuncu Yil University Central Laboratory. Inductive Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ThermoScientificIcap 6300 DOU ICP-OES) wasused for Magnesium analyzes. Arsenic, Copper, Boron, Cadmium, Cobalt, Manganese, Nickel, Lead, Selenium and Zinc Analysis ofweredone by Inductive Coupled Plasma and Mass Spectrometry (ThermoScientific X II Series ICP-MS) wasused. Fluoride, Chloride, Nitrite, Nitrate, Bromide, Sulfate and Phosphate analyzes were determined by Dionexionchromatography (DionexICS 3000). Myron L Company POOL PRO PS6FC device were used to measure conductivity, pH, ORP, TDS and min. salt analyzes. Statistical analysis of the results was performed by using T test and SPSS 20. In the statistical analysis of color, odorand turbidity parameters which were examined organoleptically, Khi Square test wasused. As a result of thestudy, the difference between Fuoride, Chlorine, Nitrite, Nitrate, Bromide, Boron, Cadmium, Cobalt, Zinc, Conductivity, TDS (total dissolved solid), ORP (redoxpotential) and temperature values of the water samples of the two provinces were found to be significant. Moreover, drinking water containing heavy metals above the limit values determined by the Regulation on Water for Human Consumption. Nickel and Phosphate were not detected in the sample staken from Van and Mardin respectively. In the water sample staken from 40 different points in 2 provinces, the most important issues are presented as substances and it is emphasized that the deficiencies should be presented to the local administrations and the public and health units and the removal of the disorders is important for thoseliving in this region.
