Syrians in Turkish written media within the framework of echo chamber theory

Turkey's intense immigration in recent years, becoming a destination country while being a transit country, has become the most important agenda issue spoken by all segments of society. Of course, the influence of the media and news sources in this situation becoming so much on the agenda is so great that it cannot be ignored. We are influenced and talk about an event or situation depending on the frequency we see from news sources or the language used. The thesis I wrote covers the analysis of the news about "Syrian immigrants" by Sözcü and Yeni Şafak newspapers, which have two different ideologies, based on the content, representation styles, groups represented and discourses. In my thesis, I used discourse analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods, and examined it within the framework of the echo chamber/chamber theory. It is clearly seen that the way in which Syrian immigrants living in our country are handled is not the same for both newspapers. The ideologies of the newspapers also affect the view of immigrants. While the future and current situation of the Syrians were handled more optimistically in Yeni Şafak newspaper, critical and negative attitudes were observed in Sözcü newspaper. It is seen that this situation leads to a uniform thought rather than increasing polyphony for the audience followed by the newspaper and the main news sources followed by internet journalism.
