Abstract (EN)

Halide Edib Adıvar, one of the leading writers of the Second Constitutional Era, is an important name both in terms of literary history and for writers and intellectuals who came after her. On the other hand, Nazan Bekiroğlu, who came to the fore with her academic identity, has become one of the most well-known authors of modern Turkish literature and publishing, especially after the 2000s. In this thesis, the Kenan Çobanları opera, which is about the story of the Prophet Yusuf, and the Yusuf ile Züleyha Kalbin Üzerinde Titreyen Hüzün novel, which tells the same narrative, are discussed in a comparative way. First of all, it is seen that Halide Edib Adıvar's Kenan Çobanları opera stands closer to the classical literary period as of the century, although it is in the shadow of the "absolute text" tradition, it is completely fed from the Bible and written with an approach that has not been seen in Turkish literature until that period. Although Nazan Bekiroğlu's Yusuf ile Züleyha Kalbin Üzerinde Titreyen Hüzün novel was produced in the modernist literature period a century after the classical literary tradition, it has been determined that it was produced in a structure inspired by the tradition. Finally, in this study, a comparative analysis was made on Halide Edib Adıvar's opera Kenan Çobanları, which was written in the early 1900s, and on Nazan Bekiroğlu's Yusuf ile Züleyha Kalbin Üzerinde Titreyen Hüzün novel, which was published in the early 2000s.
