16th century ceramic mosque lamps form, pattern features and suggestions for new candle form.

Mosque lamps have an important place in 16th century Ottoman tile and ceramic art. They are produced specially for the religious architectures of the era. All of the tiles and ceramics extanted today?s world belong to The Palace, religious architectures and other important buildings. These buildings? feature of being fire and natural disaster-resistant allowed an important part of the candles to come until today. Apart from these, there are Ottoman tiles and ceramics taken to the foreign museums somehow in the past and mosque lamps take an important place among them.The aim of this research is to present the historical development of ceramic mosque lamps produced in 16th century Ottoman era, to investigate their form and pattern features and to offer new candle form suggestions.Today, like most of the Iznik ceramic forms, lamps are produced as ornaments, as well.
