Retrospective evaluation of interventional pain treatment applied to patients admitted to OUR algology clinic for neck and arm pain

Objective: To retrospectively analyze the efficacy, patient satisfaction and complications of transforaminal anterior epidural steroid (TAESI) and PRF treatment applied in patients who applied to our clinic with complaints of neck and arm pain. Materials and methods: Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the pain of 90 patients who received TAESI vr pulsed RF before and after the procedure. Patients' pain measurements and satisfaction after the procedure, 1, 3, and 6 months after the treatment and after the interventional treatment were evaluated by retrospectively from the files. Results: In the retrospective evaluation of patients with neck and arm pain; While the average VAS score was 8.06 ± 1.76 before the procedure, 4.14 ± 2.23 in the 1st month after the procedure, 3.83 ± 2.23 in the 3rd month after the procedure, 3.70 ± 2 in the 6th month after the procedure Found as 30. The VAS score was compared before and after the procedure, and a statistically significant difference was detected (p <0.05). More than 65% of patients were evaluated as good or very good after the procedure. While the transaction was mostly carried out at C5-6 level on both sides, it was observed that 61.9% were applied on the right and 38.1% on the left. When the adverse effects developed after the procedure were evaluated, venous escape was found most frequently at the rate of 10%. However, no fatal neurological complications were observed. Conclusion: Although the efficacy and complications of cervical transforaminal epidural steroid injection and pulsed radiofrequency treatment are controversial in the literature, considering the contribution of this treatment to pain palliation of patients and the rate of profit loss; It can be thought that this combined treatment can provide an uncomplicated and effective pain palliation in experienced and competent centers with appropriate imaging methods.
