Abstract (EN)

Anatolian Alawism is a belief system whose roots dates back to centuries ago. It has taken its present form by being affected from various movements of thought and especially from old Turkish beliefs and cultures. Alawism which relies on oral culture more than written tradition and transmitted from generation to generation is an important way of belief and thought in Anatolia's various regions. Tevella and teberra belief which is accepted as a belief item by Anatolian Alawism has importance in terms of Alawism. Tevella means accepting Hz. Ali and his family as a pard, loving Hz. Ali and his family and pleading them for help and mercy. And teberra means breaking off the relation with Muaviye, who stands against Hz.Ali and refuses his caliphate and imamate, with Muaviye's son Yezid and with the one's who comes from his family, not loving them, hating them and cursing them. Love of Ahl al-bayt and Hz. Ali which forms basis of tevella and teberra belief is the subject that Anatolian Alevis urge upon most and it constitutes the basis of Alawism. In Anatolian Alawism, both tevella and teberra notions are matters of belief that results in love of Ahl al-bayt and Ahl al-bayt descendants.
