The reflections of Atatürk's Principles and Revolutions in Ankara press (1923-1938)

Without doubt, it is the newspapers and magazines which is the most widespread and influential among social and local communication tools. In Turkey, many newspapers and magazines are published and these all make the public get informed. In addition to the newspapers published around the coutry and in gib city centers, there are also local newspapers in some regions. These newspapers serve to the cities and town where they are located and they are many in numbers. These newspapers called as the local press which are published through bad conditions in various city and town of Anatolia perfomed the task of informing the society and dealt with the problems of the region that they are located. The local press organs are the mirror of their region. In this context, after the foundation of the Republic, like in many places of Anatolia, the local press activities began in Ankara too. Hakimiyet-i Milliye has been the first newspaper published in the history of Ankara press. Yeni Gün (New Day), Ulus (Nation), Cumhuriyet (Republic) and Halk (Public) followed Hakimiyet-i Milliye newspaper. They performed the task of circulationg the revolutions first in Ankara and throughout the country. The Ankara press played a major role in making the public learn about the revolutions like the establishment of the Republic, the abolishing of the caliphate and the sultanate, the dress revolution and the acceptance of Latin alphabet.
