Evaluation of gender responsive budgeting in The United Nations

In order to promote gender equality and promote sustainable development, governments are working to promote gender equality throughout their policies. In this context, it is aimed to spread gender equality in all policies in order to protect women's rights and to make women more active in economy, politics and social life. This implies the application of gender equality in all areas of public policy. Gender-responsive budgeting has emerged to eliminate problems arising from inequalities between men and women. This budgeting system does not mean making a separate budget for women. It makes it necessary to look at the current national and local budget system from a gender perspective and to prepare a budget in line with the needs of women and men. Countries development levels, policy processes and gender equality levels lead to differences in the gender-responsive budgeting implemented. Purpose of the study; to determine the contribution of gender-responsive budgeting to achieving gender equality. In this context, the United Nations, one of the international organizations supporting gender responsive budgeting; It has priority with its current practices, financial and technical support provided. Within the framework of the United Nations practices, it was concluded that gender responsive budgeting contributes to the rates varying according to the gender equality levels of the countries.
