Zakho University has been chosen as the population of the study. Meanwhile, the sample was constituted of both administrative and academic staff of the university. Therefore, the questionnaire forms were distributed to teaching and administrative staff at the colleges, and 174 forms were gathered of which 157 of them were valid for data analysis. The questionnaire was performed by using a 5-point Likert scale to give ratings on the value of motivation variables and employee performance. Accordingly, the present study was analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS V. 25), a number of statistical instruments have been used to test the hypotheses. In conclusion, the current study inferred a significant correlation and some differences between motivation and employee performance; this meant that the university has to strengthen the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of staff to introduce the ideal performance.
