Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between early maladaptive schemas, somatization and dissociative experiences in adults was examined. 1180 people participated in the study and the data of 1116 participants were analyzed in line with the exclusion criteria. "Personal Information Form", "Young Schema Scale Short Form", "Somatization Scale" and Dissociative Experiences Scale" were applied to the participants. Independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were applied to examine the differentiation levels of research variables in terms of sociodemographic variables. Pearson correlation was applied to examine the relationship between early maladaptive schemas, somatization and dissociative experiences. Multiple regression analysis was applied to examine the predictive power of somatization and dissociative experiences scores by early maladaptive schemas. According to the findings of the study, significant differences were found in early maladaptive schemas, somatization and dissociative experiences scores in terms of gender, employment status, education level, income level, family type, history of chronic illness, history of psychiatric disorders. According to the correlation findings, somatization and dissociative experiences scores were positively and significantly correlated with all early maladaptive schemas sub-dimensions. When the findings related to the predictive value of early maladaptive schemas for somatization were examined, it was found that failure, pessimism, social isolation-insecurity, self-sacrifice schema dimensions predicted somatization scores positively; punishment schema in the same model predicted somatization scores negatively and significantly. The explanatory rate of the model was found to be 37%.When the findings regarding the predictive power of early maladaptive schemas on dissocation were examined, it was found that pessimism, privilege, abandonment, defectiveness, and vulnerability to threats schema dimensions predicted dissociation scores positively; approval-seeking schemas in the same model predicted dissociation scores negatively and significantly. The explanatory rate of the model was found to be 41%. The findings obtained in the study were evaluated with the relevant literature and suggestions for further research and applications were presented.
