Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the research was to reveal the relationships between the musical abilities of kindergarten and primary school children in India and their musical environment at home. Data were obtained from 88 parents and students who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study at a private school in Hyderabad, India. Brand (1985)'s Home Musical Environment Scale was used to collect data on home musical environments. The critical ages in the developmental periods of the children were selected and the grade levels were determined as kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grades. The Primary Measures of Music Audition (1979) test developed by Edwin E. Gordon was applied to determine the musical abilities of children. In this study, in which the relational screening model was used, validity and reliability analyzes were applied to the collected data, clustering analysis was applied to determine the score ranges, and correlation tests were applied to determine the relationship. Based on the findings obtained from the research; It was concluded that a) musical environment at home predicts musical ability, (b) children in India are offered a high level of musical environment at home, c) musical hearing ability progresses together with other stages of child development.
