The correlation between the democratic attitudes and the personality characteristics of class and branch teachers working in the elementary schools

In this study, it is aimed to determine the correlation between the democratic attitudes and the personality characteristics of class and branch teachers working in the elementary schools. The survey has been executed on 190 class and branch teachers working in state elementary schools in Sultanbeyli, Kartal and Maltepe regions of Istanbul city. Correlative survey model was used in the research. In this research, `Personal Information Form?, `Democratic Attitude Scale developed by Gözütok? and `Eysenck Personality Questionnaire? methods have been used for collecting demographic variables. The techniques have been used in the reasearch are parametric analysis techniques for normal distributions, non-parametric techniques for non-normal distributions, independent group T Test, non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis H test, one-size variance analysis (ANOVA) and Pearson Multiple Moment Correlation Analysis and the significance has been tested at .05 level. By results of this study, it was determined that there is only a sub-level significance of relation between the democratic attitudes and the personality characteristics of class and branch teachers working in the elementary schools. As a result of the analyzes executed to determine the relationship between the Democratic Attitude total scores and Personality Characteristics; it was seen that there is a positive and significant relationship at the mean level between `Eysenck Personality Questionnaire? Neuroticism low level and and Democratic Attitude (r = .167, p <.05). However, when we look at the correlation coefficient we face a very low value such as 167. In general, we can say that there is a not a relationship between democratic attitudes and the personality characteristics for the research group.Keywords: Democratic Attitudes, Personality.
